Northwest Day 7,8 - Hood River, OR

We moved on down the road and about an hour and half later we were in Hood river, OR. The recently re-vamped park there is second to none. It began as a DIY and added on to over the years by Dreamland and others. The recent addition consists of a Pavilion/Shelter (with custom bracing made entirely out of 2 x 6"s) with all kinds of banks, bowled stuff, crazy quarter pipes, and a pyramid in the center, that moves on down the hill into a snake run with a door obsticle, a river gap, a bridge and lots of rock features....

This park is soooooo good. The other stuff consists of a sweet pool up on a hill, a super fun mini bowl with multi hips, other coping, jersey barrier type stuff all connected. The street course is also cool and if you are tricky, you could probably ride the whole park at once.

But the nice thing is if the session gets too snakey or if the grom factor sucks in one spot, you can go up the hill or down the hill to another part of the park and just get away. I love Hood River!!

We got a really nice campsite at a local Vieto State Park. $14 per night which is half the price of the typical state park fee so I was happy, especially to be set for the weekend. Because most state parks are booked up in the summer, we were lucky that this one is first come first served!! SO we are set until Sunday night.

We skate Hood River all day Friday from like 10am -9pm. Wow! what a day. Most everyone skating this park is from someplace else. It is pretty cool, kinda like a crossroads or oasis or mecha or something.

I plan to commute to the Portland Parks the next two days since we are less than an hour from the city. So no 100 dollar hotel bills or urban camping. Although I still have to figure out how to qualify Danforth's request of sleeping under a bridge.
